To My Dear Students:
It has come to my attention this year that there are currently several students in both in my Academics classes and my IPD classes that are either 1) not attending classes on a regular basis 2) are not turning in work on time or 3) not doing their best work.
Please remember that this is YOUR education! It is up to you whether or not you would like to be successful here at Mountain Range. It is up to you whether or not you want to be engaged in the academic process. It is up to you whether or not you want to broaden your view of the world through critical thinking and questioning. It is up to you whether or not you want to graduate. It is up to you whether or not you want to learn skills that will help you be successful in the "real world". Part of respecting yourself and those who work hard to support you at Mountain Range is prioritizing your time and respecting the time of those who are willing to help you be successful. Many teachers, myself included, have specific time limits on when late work can be turned in or deadlines on when assessments can be made up or re-taken. If you are a student that has "extended time" on your IEP Accommodations, this does not give you until the end of each quarter to do these things. Something being "hard" or not knowing how to do something is not an excuse. Use the several resources you have here at Mountain Range to help you with your issues: Your Service Coordinator for Special Education, your Academics teachers, Access Time, teacher office hours, the Student Help Center, the Open Computer Lab on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school...the list goes on and on.
Keep in mind that if you continue to not put forth effort in school or demonstrate respect to adults at MRHS, then those same adults will start losing interest in helping you succeed.
The expectation in my IPD class is that the work is due when it is due. Full credit will not be given for late work.
From your teacher that cares,
Mrs. Acker
